Release Notes:
After just three short digi EPs (the last of which was the highly
regarded collab with Ragnarok) Starving Insect goes for his debut
album – and one will observe time has come. “The Great Nothing”
provides an hour of sinister entertainment, more cinematic than
doomcore, groovier than industrial techno and more melodic than
dark electro - and all of that combined into a unique whole.
Get sucked into the album’s atmosphere by the opener “Overhead,
Without Any Fuss, The Stars Were Going Out”, combining ultra slow
beats and soundtrack-like sections; enjoy two collaborative tracks
with Omnicide, dominated by thundering, distorted kicks; let your
blood run cold with slasher atmo of “Sleep is Death” and “There are
no Doors”; consider the dark dance floor weapons “IDDQD” and
“Dormant Storm” – and the decidedly faster-than-the-rest “Visions
of the Blind Dead”, a tough contender for big time crossover
credibility.
No generic pads and stale beats on “The Great Nothing”, Starving
Insect is about thoughtful sound design and effective use of
samples, nine excess length tracks that throb with an authentic
darkness - and their rhythmic pulse.
