I think it got way worse after this period. which is when I stopped listening and moved on to other genres while still checking out certain stuff here and there, or shit I would hear at parties. I admit it took me a while to like the slower hardcore/"newstyle". I liked my hardcore 170-200 bpm's I loved the breakbeats, and the trancey synths, and even some of the happy stuff was really good too, but there was also super cheesy happy stuff in the mid 90's that even a gay guy would say "dude,that's gay". The stuff I've heard over the past few years that is called "Mainstyle/Mainstream" is totally garbage! so much so I stopped listening to it.
